So I've been teaching the children about the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. I tell them Summer is hot, and Winter is cold...That is fine until I ask them what season it is now. Because although it's Winter it is still 23 degrees C, and tomorrow it's going to go up to 26 degrees. So much for hats and gloves!

I had a similar situation happen to me when I was teaching my students about the seasons in Xiamen. They don't really have winter there. It's either fall like or summer at any given time, but never winter. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on that lesson as you can imagine They didn't seem to understand the point of gloves, hats, or scarves. And when we talked about snow, they had absolutely no idea what that was. Well, one student did, but that was only because she came from a snowy city up north. Everyone else had to bank on their imagination and even then they seemed confused and lost. Ah, the memories.
